Ballinlough got their Division 6 B-League campaign off to a good start on Wednesday night with a three point win over Summerhill under lights in Ballinlough.
Ballinlough……………..0-15 Summerhill…………….2-6
The Ballinlough attack moved superbly throughout and their total of 15 points emphasised their efficient use of possession. Midfielder Kevin Devine and centre-forward Anthony Lynch were heavily involved as Ballinlough shaded the midfield exchanges. The home side had eight points on the board and appeared to be cruising in the latter stages of the first-half but the concession of a goal just before the break brought Summerhill back into contention; 0-8 to 1-2 at half-time.
The Ballinlough attack continued to impress during the second-half and with Jonathon O’ Reilly and Michael Mc Grane steady in defence it looked as ‘The Reds’ would push further ahead but the concession of a second goal kept Summerhill in contention. Late points from Kevin Devine and Seamus Byrne sealed the victory for a hardworking Ballinlough team.
