Ballinlough’s indifferent league form continued with a disappointing nine point defeat in Nobber on Friday evening.
Ballinlough………………..0-6 Nobber……………………..1-12
Ballinlough were short a number of regulars and found the going very tough early on; Nobber started full of purpose and took a 1-4 to 0-0 lead, with the goal coming from Fiachra Mc Entee. Ballinlough’s Cian Mallen was winning plenty of possession around midfield and slowly his team started to come more into the game. Ken Rothwell was Ballinlough’s only scorer in the first half with three points as Nobber maintained their seven point advantage with a couple of Jamie Owens frees and they led; 1-7 to 0-3, at half-time.
Ballinlough battled away during the second-half as Benji Smith and Sean Geraghty kicked good scores while Padraig Muldoon put in another good display in defence; but their fortunes did not improve significantly as Nobber possessed greater scoring power and always maintained a comfortable lead before eventually ran out nine point winners.
