Quarter Final: Ballinlough progress to semi-final (9/8/12)
Ballinlough defeated Bective with unexpected ease in the Junior D Quarter Final in Kilmainham on Thursday evening.

Ballinlough will now go on to play Longwood who defeated Clann Na NGael in a high scoring quarter final last night, the semi-final has been provisionally fixed for next weekend.
The difference between the two teams was quite evident from an early stage and when Thomas Shine scored an early goal for Ballinlough it set them on their way to an easy win. Shine was outstanding for the winners throughout and he scored 2-7 with minimum fuss, before leaving the action with an injury late in the match.
Bective edged their way into the game and Alan Shine was active at full-forward as they trailed 1-3 to 0-3 after 15 minutes, at this stage Bective were enjoying their best spell of the game but they were hit with a real blow when Thomas Shine scored another goal for Ballinlough to put them ahead; 2-3 to 0-3. Conor Briody and Shine (2) were on target before the break as the winners held a comfortable eight point lead; 2-6 to 0-4, at half-time.
Third quarter points from Shine, Briody, James O’ Higgins and Simon Deevy seen Ballinlough sustain the momentum and move into a; 2-10 to 0-4, lead after 45 minutes. Bective got a goal back through Alan Shine, but at this stage their defence was under a considerable amount of pressure and Ballinlough went on to extend their lead with further scores from; Shine (3) and Briody as they cantered to an easy victory.
This was a good all round team display from Ballinlough who were without the services of regulars; Vincent Ryan, James Baugh, Jonnie Reilly, Jack Tunney while regular midfielder Brian Smith has moved to Australia.
